Fear upon my travels, for I saw a horrid sight,
The impossible before my eyes, it rivalled natures might,
I saw a river that flowed backwards, that willed itself the right,
A currant which the creatures were not strong enough to fight,
It took first from them their food,
So that the living dropped in number,
Then it brought up all the dirt,
And with it raised a blinding slumber,
It began poisoning the air, then demanding with a fist,
It dragged away the few who dared speak out, resist,
The creatures grasped and scraped,
This change burned their eyes,
In their confusion and panic,
The river whispered lies,
What I have taken here today,
Will be returned ten-fold to you,
I have taken this upon myself,
For you know not what you do,
From its mouth to the stream, and back up to the spring,
I saw the riches that the river to itself did bring,
Then I watched it turn the creature’s nightmare, slowly to a dream,
Until they no longer noticed, their riches flow upstream,
Now one problem that remained, to cross the river, who?
When in plain sight I watched it take from the many, for the few.
